Monster Radio on 93.3 FM is a predominantly English speaking station based in Playa Honda in Lanzarote. None of their shows are pre-recorded which means that all of their shows go out with live presenters who interact with the listeners.
They offer a wide range of shows covering all decades and genres. AJ Hendry is one of the station’s presenters and she covers two shows each week: her Sunday show is on at 3pm and it’s called “The Not Enough Gravy Show with AJ” and on a Monday evening “The Perfect Storm with AJ” is on at 7pm where she interviews someone with an association to Lanzarote whether it’s a musician, writer, sportsperson or an activist.
The guest on the show chooses their own playlist of songs associated with their lives in some way. In the past she has interviewed some of Lanzarote’s finest singers and musicians including Pete Dodds, Marc Johnston, Colm Farrell, Bethany, Gerie B, Massimo Santalucia, Joe Bracken and Zsolt Kovacs to name a few.
As due to the pandemic there will be no live venues for performers for a while and so many musicians have taken to giving live performances on Facebook, AJ thought her show could serve as a virtual stage where musicians could air their songwriting and performing prowess.
Many artists have written songs and composed music since lockdown and she wanted to offer an alternative platform for live music. She will even have the occasional musician performing live in the studio with her!
So from next Sunday, 7th of June 2020 she will be giving over an hour of her radio show between 3.30pm and 4.30pm to showcase the talents of Lanzarote musicians mainly playing new material and original works but she is also happy to include any covers they play.
Therefore AJ is asking for submissions to participate which can be made via email aj@monsterradio.es. Not all submissionswill be played right away, obviously, but she will endeavor to do so in the coming weeks.
So if you are a talented musician or know someone who is and would like to make an appearance on AJ’s show, please do get in touch or share the word.
